It has now been eight days since the last Covid-19-related death was recorded by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control after the latest update from the health agency showed the number of fatalities stands at 2,058 since April 1.

NCDC also added that daily new cases have also continued to follow a downward trajectory, from an all-time high of 2,314 on January 22.

The agency said 83 new cases were recorded taking the total number of infections in the country to 163,581.

It said the new COVID-19 cases were recorded in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
